The Symposium is one of a series of taking place alongside our exhibition, Reconciliations, which runs from 1 November – 1 December 2018 in The Exchange, Bush House, King’s College London and from 1 November-19 January at The Knapp Gallery, Regent’s University. Art & Reconciliation: Conflict Culture and Community is a major collaborative project between King’s College London, the University of the Arts London and the London School of Economics and Political Science, funded by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council under its Partnership for Conflict Crime and Security Research Programme and the Global Challenges Research Fund. The project explored the politics of reconciliation across the Western Balkans and beyond from a variety of perspectives, including historical and forgotten instances of reconciliation, mapping reconciliation activities within the Western Balkans, reconciliation and the everyday, large quantitative textual analysis of reconciliation initiatives, and artistic practices linked to peacebuilding and transitional justice.
