News Reporting on terrorism in Malaysia and Singapore'
This comparative study of the English language newspapers New Straits Times of Malaysia and The Straits Times of Singapore looks into the reporting of the bombings in Bali in 2002 and 2005, the JW Marriott Hotel bombing in Jakarta in 2003 and the Australian Embassy bombing in Jakarta in 2004. The reporting reproduced the views that social control is important in the fight against terrorism with the media playing an important role in conveying such a message. The article appears in Media Asia vol.33 numbers 3/4, pp.192-200 (2006).
