Join us for an evening of poetry and music reflecting on themes of war and peace, and featuring the world premier of War Poems: the dead returning lightly dance, a new commission by the composer Evelyn Ficarra. This electro-acoustic piece includes recorded poetry in several languages from the works of Siegfried Sassoon, Guillaume Apollinaire, Georg Trakl and other poets from the First World War.
The programme will also include poetry readings by the well-known children’s poet Michael Rosen and a chamber performance of ‘Metamorphosen’ by Richard Strauss, his lament for the destruction of war.
