Dr Kevin McSorley: University of Portsmouth
Kevin is a sociologist with expertise in contemporary social and cultural theory, the sociology of technology, and sociological approaches to violence. His present research agenda focuses upon the material culture, technological networks and global assemblages of contemporary violence and war. He is currently writing the monograph Violence and Social Theory.
Dr Sarah Maltby: City University, War and Media Network
Sarah is the founder and coordinator of the War and Media Network which promotes productive dialogue between academics and practitioners interested in the intersection between war, terrorism and the media. Sarah's core academic interests centre upon the intersection between contemporary military practice, and media practice and theory including; tactical and strategic role of mediated information in the implementation of security provision, institutional information management in conflict, and the impact of mediated information on social behavior in conflict scenarios.
She is the author of the forthcoming 'Media Military Management: Negotiating the Frontline' (Routledge).
Dr Gavin Schaffer: University of Portsmouth
Gavin is a cultural historian specialising in the history of British racism in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. His current research explores the sexualisation of immigrants in twentieth-century Britain and the use of 'race' in British television. He is the editor, with Monica Riera, of 'The Lasting War: Society and Identity in Britain, France and Germany after 1945', Palgrave 2008. |
